Emerald Lake is the largest lake in Yoho National Park. It is just 20 minutes west of Lake Louise, and 5 minutes from Field, BC. Emerald Lake has incredible colour, nestled in the mountains and surrounded by lush, green forest.

The first non-indigenous person to det sight on Emerald Lake was Canadian guide   Tom Wilson, who stumbled upon it by accident in 1882, while chasing his lost horses,          "for s few months I sat on my horse and enjoyed the rare, peaceful beauty of the scene".

The vivid green colour of the water is caused by powdered rock of glaciers which reflects the blue-green spectrum of sunlight.
